IT'S ALL ABOUT THE PREP! The care and time you take to prep the playing surface will make all the difference in the longevity of your court. Do not skip this!
-
Use a leaf blower to remove any dirt/debris from the playing surface. Every bit of dirt, dust or sand left on the playing surface will only inhibit the CourtKit lines adhesiveness.
-
We highly recommend using a power washer to further clear debris from the playing surface. This is the best way to ensure your court will last a long time!
KEYS TO SUCCESSFUL INSTALL:
-
Do not remove the backing on any CourtKit Strips until your chalk line is in place.
-
All Strips overlap any time two lines meet.
-
If using CourtKit Pro: If the chalk reel line is not coming out dark enough, wind the string back into its container, add more chalk and then shake the container to disperse it. Pull the string out and roll it back in. Do this a few times to make sure the entire string is coated in chalk.
WHAT YOU NEED:
-
A buddy to help
-
Included w/ CourtKit Pro: Chalk Reel Line
-
Included w/ CourtKit Pro: Chalk for marking corners
-
50' measuring tape
1. Unroll one 44’ sideline strip and place it roughly where you want an edge of your court to be.
Do not remove the paper backing yet.
Make sure the tape is tight and flat against the ground, then using chalk, mark each end with "X".
2. Move the 44' Sideline Strip to the side. Using the CourtKit Pro Chalk Line Reel, mark a straight line between the two X's.
TIP: Hold the chalk string tight. Snap the string against the ground several times so the mark is clearly visible.
TIP: If your chalk line is too faint, try rolling the chalk string back into its container, shaking it to disperse the chalk, and try again. Repeat this unrolling/rolling a few times until you can see lots of chalk on the string as it's being unrolled.

3. Peel off a few inches of the 44' Sideline Strip to get it started. Starting at either "X," adhere the strip to the ground at the point where the X and chalk line meet - STAYING ON THE INSIDE OF THE CHALK LINE.
Once the end of the Sideline Strip is in place, have your partner peel off the backing in roughly 2-ft sections at a time. As your partner is removing the backing, you are adhering it to the ground, carefully following the inside of the chalk line. Continue peeling and sticking until the entire strip is in place.
4. Using a measuring tape, start at one end of your sideline strip and unroll it to the corner diagonally across from you, stopping when you get to 48'-4"
• Do not mark this spot yet
• Leave the measuring tape unrolled on the court while you move onto the next step
5. Starting at the corner closest to the 48'4" measurement (the near corner) have your partner hold the end of one 20' Strip so it's overlapping the end of the sideline. Unroll the 20' Strip, walking towards the tape measure.

6. With your partner holding the 20' corner in place (the one overlapping the sideline), adjust the end of the 20' Strip up/down and the 48'4" measurement inwards/outwards until they intersect. Mark that spot with chalk.

7. With your new corner now marked, move the 20' Sideline Strip to the side. Using your chalk line reel, mark a straight line between the end of your sideline strip and your new corner. Remember to hold the chalk string as tight as possible before snapping it against the ground. This will produce the best chalk line.

8. To apply your 20' Baseline Strip, peel a few inches of the paper backing off. Start applying the tape in the corner where it overlaps the Sideline Strip. Overlap the Baseline Strip with the existing Sideline Strip. Then, have your partner peel off the paper backing in roughly 2ft sections, while you apply the tape to the ground, following the inside of the chalk line.

9. Next you will apply the other baseline, following the same process as you did in steps 4-8. Start by measuring from your existing corner diagonally across the court to where your new corner will be. Stop when you get to 48'4".
10. Starting at the corner closest to the 48'4" measurement (the near corner) have your partner hold the end of one 20' Strip so it's overlapping the end of the sideline. Unroll the 20' Strip, walking towards the tape measure.

11. With your partner holding the 20' corner in place (the one that overlaps with the sideline), adjust the other end of the 20' strip up/down and the measuring tape inwards/outwards until they intersect at 48'4". Mark this spot with chalk. This will ensure your court is a perfect square.

12. With your new corner now marked, move the 20' Sideline Strip to the side. Using your chalk line reel, mark a straight line between the end of your sideline strip and your new corner. Remember to hold the chalk string as tight as possible before snapping it against the ground. This will produce the best chalk line.

13. To apply your 20' Baseline Strip, peel a few inches of the paper backing off. Start applying the tape in the corner where it meets the Sideline Strip. Overlap the Baseline Strip with the existing Sideline Strip. Then, have your partner peel off the paper backing in roughly 2ft sections, while you apply the tape to the ground following the inside of the chalk line.

14. For the last sideline, use your chalk reel to mark a straight line between the two baselines.
15. Apply your 44' Sideline Strip using the same process as before (peeling a little off at a time) and ensuring your tape is being applied on the inside of the chalk line.

16. From any corner, measure 15' starting at the outside edge of the baseline, down the sideline. Mark this spot with chalk. Repeat the same thing starting in the other corner of the same baseline.
Using your chalk reel, mark a straight line between these two points.

17. Taking one of your 20' strips, start at either sideline and apply the tape on the side of the chalk line closest to mid-court (where the net would be). See graphic.

18. Repeat steps 16-17 on the opposite end of the court.

19. Next, you are going to mark the middle serve line by finding the middle of each 20' baseline. Measure 10' inwards from any corner and mark that spot. Do this on both baselines.
Using your chalk line reel, mark a line that runs down the center of the court.

20. Apply your 15' Center Serve Lines between the baseline and the kitchen line. When applying the tape, make sure you are centered directly on top of the chalk line.

21. Last step! Starting at either kitchen line, measure 7' down the sideline towards mid-court. Repeat this measurement from the opposite kitchen line to find the middle of the court. Mark this spot on both sidelines.
Apply your has marks on either side.
